Make sure your homepage content is effective

The content on your homepage can be the make or break factor - will visitors click through further into your website or will they simply bounce straight off? It's amazing how many websites have confusing homepage content that doesn't really tell you what the website's about, let alone entice you to delve deeper. The content on your homepage gives users the first impression of your company, making it the most important. Some essential homepage guidelines include:

  1. Introduce your company
When a user enters your website it's crucial that they can quickly find out exactly what you do.
Ensure that you explain what you do and who you do it for without assuming prior knowledge or understanding. Succinctly. What you do and who you do it for.

  2. Explain your USP
Every business should have a unique selling point to communicate to potential customers. This involves explaining the benefits to customers as well as demonstrating why users should prefer you over others.

  3. Show fresh website content
Your homepage should also be used to demonstrate the freshness of your website content. Showcase popular or latest features and/or content that's often changed e.g. latest news, projects, products.
